How to play Ludo

Ludo gives you a focused activity to play in your browser. Bring all four tokens home before the other players. Check the relevant rule before repeating a move. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Use the example below to understand a decision.

Play with two or four people on the same device. Follow the house rules shown on the board; internet matchmaking is not available.

Review a difficult moment

When a decision goes wrong, compare it with the common mistake described below. Start again only when you intend to leave the current round. Refer to the controls when needed.

Your goal

Bring all four tokens home before the other players. The feedback beside the game helps you follow the round. Follow this game’s rules rather than another version’s.

Step by step

1. Roll six to leave the yard.
2. Move an eligible token by the die value; home requires an exact roll.
3. Capture opponents on non-safe squares.
4. Six, capture and finishing a token grant another roll; a third consecutive six forfeits that roll.

Controls

Click or tap a piece and destination; use the turn indicator and legal-move feedback. Read a button’s label before selecting it. Use the visible help when you are unsure of the next input.

A useful example

A token two steps from home cannot use a three. Your next round may have a different position, so inspect it before acting. Take a moment to compare.

Watch out for this

Safe squares cannot capture; blockades are not part of this edition. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Watch the feedback after an action. A message can explain whether the input was accepted or whether a rule needs attention.
