How to play Word Search

Choose a round of Word Search and settle into its rules. Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. Use the example below to understand a decision. Use the opening round to become familiar with the layout. Look at what changes after your first action.

Each board contains eight target words from the included English word list.

Read before acting

Read one step at a time and try it on the playing area. Match the instruction to the control you use. Use the example to check your reasoning.

Your goal

Find every listed word in a 10×10 grid. An attractive position is not enough unless the goal is met. Check the rules when you are unsure.

Step by step

  1. Select the first and last letter of a straight word.
  2. Words can run horizontally, vertically or diagonally, in either direction.
  3. Find all eight targets.
  4. New puzzle shuffles again.

Controls

Tap or click endpoints. Keep the playing area visible while using these controls. Make sure you are interacting with the game rather than the surrounding page.

A useful example

Selecting the endpoints in reverse order also finds the same word. Use the example as a guide rather than a substitute for reading your board. Keep the game’s format in mind.

Watch out for this

Words cannot turn corners. A different version of the game may use a different rule. Compare the worked example with your own position. Use the reasoning, not an answer copied from a different board.
